Excerpt
“So the kiss we shared? It was just one of those ‘caught up in the moment’ things?” he asked cautiously.

“No. It’s one of those super-complicated ‘I don’t quite know what to make of it yet’ things.” I looked away from him. His handsome face and sad eyes were more than I could handle at the moment. “Even though I admit that I enjoyed it, I’m not sure that we should do it again. Not until I figure out where things are with Pete, okay?”

“So, you enjoyed it?” He nodded his head a few times and then rose from his seat to make his way to the front door. I followed him through the foyer and turned the handle of the door to open it. Jacob thrust his hand against the door and held it closed. He pulled me to him and kissed me until I thought my knees would buckle.

“I just wanted to give you something to think about while you’re trying to figure the Pete thing out,” he taunted.

Evertaster Tour

The Buttersmiths' Gold

BATTLES. BLUEBERRIES. BOVINES.

TORBJORN AND STORFJELL’S HISTORY UNFOLDS IN AN EPIC EVERTASTER NOVELLA.

Everyone knows the most coveted treasure of the Viking Age was blueberry muffins. Blueberry muffins so succulent that if you sniffed just a whiff, you'd want a whole bite. If you bit a bite, you'd want a batch; if you snatched a batch, you'd stop at nothing short of going to war just to claim them all.

Young Torbjorn Trofastsonn comes from the clan that makes them. He's a Viking through and

through – he's thirteen winters old, larger than most respectable rocks, and most of all, a Buttersmith. That's what he thinks anyway, until a charismatic merchant makes Torbjorn question his place among the muffin-makers. When Torbjorn lets the secret of his clan's muffin recipe slip, he calls doom and destruction down upon his peaceful village and forces his brother Storfjell and his clansmen to do the one thing they are ill-prepared to do: battle for their lives.

Tunuftol Review

Okay, today I have something extra special for you.  This series is a FABULOUS one for young and old alike.  When Ann Snizek first offered me the series to read I thought it would be a good one for my son and I to read for his Home Schooling.  And boy oh boy was I right!  I am so very happy to be bringing you a series that not only grabbed me and sucked me in to the point that I was yelled at by my husband for staying up until 3 in the morning reading, but one in which my son absorbed equally as fast.  And that is saying a lot.  He is 10 years old and absolutely LOVED this series.  I have never seen him read a series as fast other than Percy Jackson, so that should tell you something about this series!  Caught your attention with that huh?  Well read on and see if this series grabs you by reading the summary and my review.  I kindly provided links to Amazon so you can grab up your own copies.  And Book 3 which I was lucky enough to get is out SOON!

Rewrite Redemption Tour and Review

She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.

She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn’t end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her.

She wants answers.

He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.

Then he moves to her town.

This is a YA romance with paranormal/sci-fi elements.
Review
WOW!  I have to start my review with just that one word WOW!  This book is fabulous, and what is even more impressive is that the talent that J.H. Walker brought to this book is just amazing.

This story not only tells of the young girl who has lived her entire life disappearing into the past, but it paints a picture that is astounding.  And the ending, talk about closure!

I know time travel is tricky business in books due to time loops and all that high tech mumbo jumbo.  But this story does tackle that very issue in such a creative manner.  I loved how this isn't just a time travel story but one of major technological advancements.

Character Creation is always important to me, and this author has created characters that you not only are deeply attached to, but so in tuned to that you can almost predict what their response will be to any circumstance which happens.  Yes it has some romance, but not enough to make this a romance novel.  What this truly is, is a time travel story that is amazingly and creatively done.

This is one of the first time travel books that I can say I whole heartedly enjoyed.  I gladly give this book 5 amazing stars and I have to say I HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYONE who enjoys a fabulous story!

Details/Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.  This free book held no determination on my final review.

My life has been rather unconventional. Born insanely curious into an authoritarian, religious family, I know what it’s like to not fit in. My teen years were a struggle, and I remember them in all their intensity. That’s why I like writing for young adults.

I grew up in Central America, surrounded by jungle, and was never too far from the ocean. I observed other cultures, including an indigenous tribe that, at the time, had seen little of the modern world. While there, I slept in a hammock in a bamboo hut, dressed in tribal clothing, and helped bring three babies into the world in at the tender age of fourteen. I survived a hurricane aboard an ocean liner, canoeing through alligator infested waters, P.E., my brother’s pet tarantulas, sky diving, parasailing over the Pacific shoreline, rock climbing, a ropes course blindfolded, and walking barefoot across hot coals. I’m not done having experiences.

I attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, but was so obsessed in my quest to understand human behavior; I left midstream to travel the country and study with people doing groundbreaking work in the field. I’m certified in Ericksonian Hypnosis, am a Master of Neuro-linguistic Programming, and have worked with world-class athletes, including members of the U.S. Ski Team. I’ve completed advanced studies with some of the most brilliant minds of my time in the field of NLP and am a perpetual student of sociology and human behavior.

I live with my photographer husband in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. I’m surrounded by trees. And I will always remain insanely curious.

Gaijin Cowgirl Tour

Publisher: Crime Wave Press  (March 8, 2013)
Category: Action/Adventure, Mystery/Thriller/Suspense, Crime Thriller
Tour Date: Mid May, 2013
Available in: Print &  eBook, 380 pages
Working Tokyo nightclubs is easy money for beautiful and troubled American Val Benson – until a client with a rather unusual hobby – painting the private parts of his female liaisons – reluctantly gives up a map to a stash of Japanese war loot and tempts his favourite girl into a dangerous treasure hunt.

The Congressman’s daughter is not the only one interested in the map: yakuza, bent cops, human traffickers, rogue CIA agents and her father are hot on her trail, snapping at her high heels.
So begins the dark, epic journey of a new anti-hero of Asian Noir, a protagonist both ambiguous and courageous, and utterly unreliable. From comfort women and tomb-raiding in Japanese-occupied Burma to the murderous echoes of the Vietnam War, long forgotten crimes come roaring back to life, as Val leaves a trail of destruction and chaos in her wake.
Together with her best friend, the equally unreliable nightclub hostess Suki, Val travels through Tokyo, Hong Kong and Bangkok to the Thai-Burmese borderlands for a dramatic showdown with her pursuers. Finding the treasure before everyone else does is her only hope for survival, and perhaps redemption.
Review
Gaijin Cowgirl begins with Val, a rich woman who is trying to outrun her past.  I have to say when the book began I really didn't like her.  She seemed oh so selfish and into herself.  There is a bit of a time jump in the beginning where we go back to before Val started hostessing, and we meet up with Charlie, her ex/not so ex.  Then we are back to where we began with Val hostessing in a Japanese bar.

This book is NOT for youngsters.  It is a thriller which keeps you turning the pages.  There are some historical references some of which I wasn't quite sure why they were mentioned.  But the main character and her companions were just so great once you were into the action.  I have to say I really liked Muddy and Suki.  To find out who they are you'll just have to grab your own copy of this book.

Now I must say that for a first time novel this book was well done.  The violence is done in a very nice manner, yes I know violence and nice just don't seem to go together but hey they do in this case.  And while there is a tad bit of sex it isn't over the top and it more often than not leaves you in your own mind for what happened next.  This book truly is a gripping story, and you won't want to put it down until you turn that last page.

Truthfully, the only thing I didn't like about this book was the main character, and that was probably due to the fact that she just seemed to draw negativity to her like the plague.  Other than that, which isn't actually a bad thing, this book was a great action packed read.

Details/Disclaimers: I received a copy of this book for free for my honest review.  This free book held no determination on my final review.
Praise for Gaijin Cowgirl:
“Val Benson – a rich kid with a few family secrets in her locker winds up in a Japanese hostess bar before entangling herself in a treasure hunt for lost gold in the Thai / Burmese jungle. Along for the ride are Suki (great name) her Japanese hostess friend, Muddy (again great name choice) a gritty Australian treasure hunter, and Simon- a sarf Londan kick boxer.
Reminiscent of Karin Slaughter’s Tokyo the beginning opens with Val arriving in Tokyo, finding her feet in a hostess bar, and meeting an old flame who happens to be a lawyer working on busting former Japanese war criminals. One of whom is also Val’s number one customer, painter of female genitals, and holder of a lost treasure map. Val goes to the client’s home, takes the treasure map along with a bag of cash, battles C.I.A agents, watches the old war criminal nearly die, and escapes with her life, the cash, and the map. Her diplomat father gets her out of the country to Hong Kong where she meets up with Muddy and then onto Bangkok where the search for treasure starts proper.
Gaijin Cowgirl is a high-octane chase thriller; the action level only drops when the author fills us in with historical details – all of which are probably not a hundred percent essential to the plot – interesting nonetheless. The cast is wide and colorful and the backdrop always illuminating. This is a fine first novel by author Jame DiBiasio who moved to Hong Kong from New York in 1997. DiBiasio has researched and structured his novel well, tension rises and lowers, the plot is strong and well resolved. Val finds out something about herself, her family and her place in the world during this adventure. And that, my fellow readers, is what writing character adventure fiction is all about.”-J. The Island Tour and Review

Today along with Girls Heart BooksTours I am giving you a new book by Jen Minkman.

Title-The Island
By- Jen Minkman
Expected Publication Date-June 1, 2013
*Novella* (80 pages)
Genre- YA Dystopian

I have also included my review of the book and the book trailer for you to watch.  As well as links to make it easy for you to go grab your own copy of this short book.

‘I walk toward the sea. The endless surface of the water extends to the horizon, whichever way I look.

Our world is small. We are on our own, and we only have ourselves to depend on. We rely on the Force deep within us, as taught to us by our forefathers.

If I were to walk westward from here, I would come across a barrier – the Wall.
Behind it, there are Fools. At least, that’s what everyone says.
I have never seen one.’

Leia lives on the Island, a world in which children leave their parents to take care of themselves when they are ten years old. Across this Island runs a wall that no one has ever crossed. The Fools living behind it are not amenable to reason – they believe in illusions. That’s what The Book says, the only thing left to the Eastern Islanders by their ancestors.
But when a strange man washes ashore and Leia meets a Fool face to face, her life will never be the same. Is what she and her friends believe about the Island really true?

Or is everyone in their world, in fact, a Fool?

~Review~
After reading the summary I thought oh this sounds like an interesting story.  80 pages is very short and was definitely a quick read for me.  I must say that I was a bit disappointed in the story. I will explain why.

This is supposed to be a dystopian novel, but I can't really say that it was one.  Yes it has some of the key factors, a defunct society, a ruthless leader, a disease that wiped out the world before, but I read the prologue and the names Luc and Leia immediately jumped out at me.  I thought the clothing fit the characters from Star Wars, and immediately I went um, no.

That being said, I did read the entire book in about an hour.  It is a very quick read.  And Leia actually grows from this child of 10 who is forced from her home by society rules, into a young woman who questions.  Unfortunately, she seemed rather boring.  There just wasn't enough character development for me, yes I know it was a short book but even in those I like to know my characters a bit.

I did like the way the author explained the link to star wars.  That was a fun part of the book for me. Other than that, the entire society was just... ah you'll have to read it to determine for yourself.

What I will say is that if the writer decides to rewrite this book as a much larger story it may actually pull all the aspects together.  It has a great deal of potential for a larger novel.  I just think that for this genre a novella just won't work because it feels far too rushed.

If you are a Geek like me, you will easily see the entire Star Wars aspect of the society.  So you may enjoy it or not.  Hard to tell.  Sadly for me, it just didn't do it.  But don't just go by my opinion many other people loved the book.  So go grab your own copy. In the mean time... Let the Force Be With YOU!

Details/Disclaimer:  I received this book for free for my honest review.  This free book held no determination on my final review.

Jen Minkman (1978) was born in Holland, in the town of Alphen aan den Rijn. When she was 19, she moved between The Hague, Salzburg (Austria), Brussels (Belgium) and Cambridge (UK) to complete her studies in intercultural communication. She is currently a teacher of English, career counsellor and teenage coach at a secondary school in Voorburg, Holland. She tries to read at least 100 books a year (and write a few, too!). She is a published author in her own country, and translates her own books from Dutch into English for self-publication.
In her spare time, she plays the piano, the guitar and the violin. For every novel she writes, she creates a soundtrack.

'I have always been drawn to writing. My first book was a sci-fi novel at the age of eight, which I painstakingly typed out on my dad's typewriter and illustrated myself. Nowadays, I stick to poetry, paranormal romance, chicklit and/or fantasy. In my home country, I am the first-ever published writer of paranormal romance, and I will gradually make my books also available in English (seeing I have to re-write and translate the books myself, this will take some time!).

Escaping Darkness Tour

Before you go on I must say that I was supposed to review this book for the tour, however I realized upon starting it that it is book 2 in a series.  I started to read it but after reading a few pages I felt that it would be better if I read book 1 first.  So until then I am withholding a review of this book for obvious reasons.  However, I will say that the first two chapters of this book really sucked me in, and I really wanted to keep reading but I wanted to find out about some of the characters mentioned in the book before proceeding.  So if you are like me and want to read books in order, may I suggest you start with book 1 The Stone Guardian.  I have provided links to both books on Amazon for ease of purchase.
