Colonization and Reconnaissance Tour/Review

Today I have not just one but TWO fabulous books by Aubrie Dionne to share with you.  Colonization and Reconnaissance are two out of this world books that you should definitely add to your TBR pile.  I was first introduced to Aubrie Dionne's writing when I read her book Playing the Maestro.  So when I was offered the chance to read these books I decided that I'd give it a read.  I'm very glad I did.  I give both of these books a definite 4.5 stars.  And if you are seriously into science fiction type stories you will LOVE these books.  Read on to find out what the books are about and my personal review of each of the books.

Andromeda has spent all seventeen years of her life aboard a deep space transport vessel destined for a paradise planet. Her safe cocoon is about to break open as Paradise 21 looms only one month away, and she must take the aptitude tests to determine her role on the new world and her computer assigned lifemate. As a great-granddaughter of the Commander of the ship, she wants to live up to her family name. But, her forbidden love for her childhood friend, Sirius, distracts her and she fails the tests. The results place her in a menial role in the new colony and pair her with Corvus, “the oaf”.

But when Andromeda steps foot on Paradise 21, her predestined future is the least of her worries. Alien ghosts from a failed colonization warn her of a deadly threat to her colony. And when Sirius’s ship crashes on the far ridge in an attempt to investigate, she journeys to rescue him with Corvus.

Andromeda now must convince the authorities of the imminent danger to keep her protect her new home. What she didn’t expect was a battle of her own feelings for Sirius and Corvus.

Can she save the colony and discover her true love?

Review
Colonization is book 1 in the Paradise Reclaimed series.  In this book we meet Andromeda, who has been raised on board the New Dawn, but now she is to start a new life on Paradise 21 a planet.  I thought it was funny that she failed her colonization test and wound up with a boy who well  you just have to read the book to find out how that all works out.

The other main characters in the book Corvus who happens to be the man Andromeda is paired up with after failing her tests, and Sirius, who is her childhood crush.  Needless to say, we have a bit of a love triangle going on in this book.

The world building in Colonization is totally OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!  I could actually see Paradise 21, not only is it breathtakingly beautiful but deadly.  Which I can so relate to since I live in one of the most beautiful and deadly places in the world.

The story itself will keep you flipping the pages, and it is a very quick read.  So it is perfect for those reluctant YA readers.  Any science fiction fanatic will absolutely love this book because it is so detailed.  But not in a way that detracts from the book.  This book also will draw in the paranormal readers because of what happens on Paradise 21.  So I highly recommend this book to ANYONE young or old alike!  I give this book 4 solid stellar stars!

Review
Reconnaissance begins once again with the colonization of Paradise 21.  Nova Williams who is Andromeda's rival, is still upset over Andromeda's success.  She finds an alien ship hovering over the planet and is put in charge of a reconnaissance mission.

That's the only piece of data I will give you because I simply hate spoilers.  But trust me you are going to want to grab a copy of book 2 after reading book 1.  As in the first book we again have a wonderfully built world.  With a planet so vibrant you may as well be there.

As for the aliens, I say just look at the cover and well ick I hated spiders before especially since we have some seriously deadly ones here in Australia, but now, I don't think I will ever look at a spider exactly in the same way.

Once again Aubrie has a hit on her hands with this book!  It is perfect for those science fiction addicts out there.  I will say one other thing, Book 1 Colonization was fabulous but I think that Book 2 Reconnaissance is a slightly better story in the surprises which happen.  *zips lip* that's all I'm saying!  So I give this book 4.5 stars!

About the Author-Aubrie grew up watching the original Star Wars movies over and over again until she could recite and reenact every single scene in her backyard. She also loved The Goonies, Star Trek the Next Generation-favorite character was Data by far-, and Indiana Jones. But, her all time favorite movie was The Last Unicorn. She still wonders why the unicorn decided to change back to a unicorn in the end.

Aubrie wrote in her junior high yearbook that she wanted to be "A concert flutist" when she grew up. When she made that happen, she decided one career was not enough and embarked as a fantasy, sci fi author. Two careers seems to keep her busy. For now.

Now for the professional bio:

Aubrie Dionne is an author and flutist in New England. Her writings have appeared in Mindflights, Niteblade, Silver Blade, Emerald Tales, Hazard Cat, Moon Drenched Fables, A Fly in Amber, and Aurora Wolf. Her books are published by Entangled Publishing, Lyrical Press, and Gypsy Shadow Publishing. She recently signed her YA sci fi novel with Inkspell Publishing titled: Colonization: Paradise Reclaimed, which will release in October 2012. When she's not writing, Aubrie teaches flute and plays in orchestras. She's a big Star Trek TNG fan, as well as Star Wars and Serenity.
